NWSA Enhances Certification Verification, Transitioning to Digital Credentials

(Salt Lake City, UT) – The National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) modernized the certification process with the launch of digital certification credentials last fall. This new feature allows NWSA trade certified technicians and customers to access and verify NWSA credentials instantly on a computer or hand-held device.  Key benefits of digital certification credentials are verification convenience and enhanced security.

Convenient & Secure

By going digital, technicians can now enjoy the convenience of having their certification credentials readily available through their NWSA Candidate Profile. Candidates and certificants who have not yet created a profile in the new NWSA Portal will be required to do so to access this new functionality.

Transitioning to Digital Only

By the end of 2025, NWSA will ultimately only issue and recognize digital credentials for its trade certifications. The transition plan includes the following three milestones:

  • Effective March 1, 2025, NWSA will only be issuing digital certifications as a routine practice. A wallet card may still be requested for a fee of $35.00.
  • Effective June 30, 2025, wallet cards will no longer be available for request or purchase.
  • Effective December 31, 2025, all wallet cards will be retired. Going forward NWSA will only be recognizing its digital certifications. This will require all certificants to ensure their NWSA Candidate Profile has been created and is up to date so that a digital certification may be issued.

“NWSA believes that verifiable digital credentials are a key advancement for our industry that further promotes safety and quality. The enhanced verification functionality of digital credentials greatly increases convenience, reduces the risk of fraudulent certifications and adds yet another layer of security for telecom tower technicians, employers, and industry stakeholders,” said Duane Macentee, Executive Director of NWSA.
