National Wireless Safety Alliance Updates Exams to Revised ANSI/ASSP A10.48 Industry Standard

(Salt Lake City, UT) – The National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) is pleased to announce that its exam content has been updated to reflect the revised requirements of ANSI/ASSP A10.48-2023, Criteria for Safety Practices With The Construction, Demolition, Modification and Maintenance of Communication Structures.  The updated programs include the Telecommunications Tower Technician 1 (TTT-1), Telecommunications Tower Technician 2 (TTT-2), and Foreman (FOR) examinations.

“These updated exams represent NWSA’s ongoing commitment to candidates to ensure the validity of trade certifications within the telecommunications industry,” said Duane MacEntee, NWSA’s Executive Director.  “Continuous improvement is a priority for us and NWSA routinely conducts a rigorous and industry-wide review to ensure our trade certifications remain valid, reliable, and relevant, and meet the needs of industry stakeholders.”

To maintain the integrity and accuracy of our programs as well as make sure exams remain current with industry standards NWSA engages Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from relevant industry sectors to conduct a Job Task Analysis (JTA) process. A very important aspect of the JTA process is an industry-wide certificant survey that helps validate NWSA’s exam blueprints. As NWSA continues to update its programs, certificants are encouraged to participate in the process by completing future surveys.

Francesca Zinkovitch, NWSA’s Exam Management and Credentialing Manager, added, "Our priority is ensuring the validity and reliability of NWSA's trade certifications. We maintain a rigorous process to ensure every exam is psychometrically sound and aligns with the real-world demands of the job.  By working with our SMEs to diligently update every aspect of the exams, we ensure that our certifications truly measure current competency against the highest standard of industry practice.”

In alignment with the exam updates, NWSA is publishing a revised Candidate Handbook to include, where applicable, new exam content outlines and weighting of the knowledge domains.  Content outlines serve as detailed blueprints of the exam material, reflecting the new and changing areas of knowledge required in the telecommunications tower industry. Simultaneously, knowledge domain percentages—which indicate the weight or proportion of questions dedicated to major subject areas (domains like Structures or Hoisting Equipment and Rigging)—have been adjusted. These crucial updates are intended to help guide candidates on where to focus as they prepare to take exams.

NWSA trade certification embodies and exemplifies our core values of Safety, Quality, and Proficiency. For more information about NWSA certification programs and digital credentialing, please visit https://www.nws-a.org.
